Gas Engineers have been working all afternoon to try and restore supplies to more than 700 homes in the South of the Island.
It follows a major problem caused by the collapse of a valve in the gas supply system yesterday evening.
Earlier today residents of Castletown and Colby were warned that engineers - with police approval - may have to use the help of locksmiths in order to gain access to some un-occupied properties so that the required work could be carried out.
However, acting managing director of Manx Gas Robert Gardner says so far that hasn't been necessary . . .
Manx Gas engineers will continue to work into the evening and the company is still optimistic all properties in Colby could be re-connected by the end of the day but with more work required in Castletown tomorrow.
