Whole household isolation rules introduced

New laws effective from next Thursday

When someone travels to the Isle of Man from the UK, their whole household will now have to self-isolate for 14 days as well as the traveller themselves.

The rules come into effect from next Thursday (19 Nov).

Chief Minister Howard Quayle made the announcement at this afternoon's coronavirus media briefing.

The Council of Ministers made the decision today, at its weekly meeting.

Government is also establishing a framework of private sector accommodation providers, contributing £250 per week towards the cost.

This is so that alternative quarantine can be found for anyone who doesn't wish to impose total isolation upon their households.

Mr Quayle also said that with patient transfers, exemptions including a seven-day test option, are to be available for the 'small number of people' who are regularly off-Island for medical appointments.

That will also be extended to family members.
