UK Prime Minister confirms unlawful killing won't be included in attempts to ease overcrowding
The killer of a woman who grew up on the Isle of Man won't be eligible for early release under plans to ease prison overcrowding in England and Wales.
Joanna Simpson was killed by her ex-husband, Robert Brown, in 2010.
Initial plans unveiled by the UK government would have included reducing manslaughter sentences, but the British Prime Minister's confirmed anyone jailed for unlawful killing will now not be included in the scheme.
Brown could have been eligible for release under the original scheme had Joanna's friends and family not successfully campaigned to have him blocked from early release earlier this year.
Hetti Barkworth-Nanton was a friend of Joanna's, and helped start a charity in her name, which supports children who are affected by domestic homicide and abuse.
