Welbeck Hotel introduces brunch deposits following series of no-shows

Hotelier warns missed bookings are affecting service, as demand for brunch grows

The Welbeck Hotel in Douglas has introduced a £10 per person deposit for brunch bookings, following recent incidents of tables failing to show up without notice.

In a statement on social media, the hotel said the no-shows left them over-staffed and with surplus food prepared for a busy service.

The hospitality services’ management says while bookings are welcomed and appreciated, missed reservations can negatively impact the business and other customers.

The deposit policy is intended to reduce last-minute cancellations and ensure tables are not left empty during busy periods.

The hotel says demand for brunch has been growing, and the change is aimed at helping them manage that more effectively.
