RCN negotiations with Manx Care will be led by feedback

Nurses on the Isle of Man will be asked for their views on a three-year pay offer put forward by Manx Care.

RCN North West will survey its members over the next two weeks.

It, and other trade unions, have been involved in pay negotiations for a pay round spanning three years: 2026/27, 2027/28 and 2028/29.

In April Manx Care proposed a three-year settlement linked to the September Consumer Price Index each year with additional percentage uplifts:

· 2026/27: CPI + 1.75 percent.  (Based on the most recent September CPI figure of 2.9 percent which equals a 4.65 percent uplift.)

· 2027/28: CPI + 1.5 percent. (This would be applied to the September CPI for that year.)

· 2028/29: CPI + 1.25 percent. (This would be applied to the September CPI for that year.)

Simon Browes, Regional Director for the RCN in the North West, said: “This offer follows extensive consultation between staff side and Manx Care.

“The length of the term will mean that we are not constantly asking in retrospect what our members think of a pay offer which has been the norm for the past few years, delaying paying increases until late on in the year and causing issues for leavers who are missing out on back pay.

“We are not recommending how you vote just that you do vote.

“The RCN negotiations will be led by the feedback of its membership.

“Our members need to inform us if this pay offer shows that Manx Care are valuing their work and contribution to the health and care sector on the Isle of Man, and that they are investing in the sustainable future of nursing and safe patient care.”

The consultative survey opened at 12pm today (20 April) and will run until 12pm on 5 May.
