Volunteers to help maintain Island's green lanes

Initiative similar to Beach Buddies

The Department of Infrastructure is looking for groups of volunteers to help maintain the Islands green lanes.

There are around 74 miles of green lane and 180 miles of paths on the Island and their condition is often a cause of concern.

It's hoped the initiative could work in a similar way to the highly successful Beach Buddies charity which cleans the Island's coastline.

Minister Ray Harmer says the move doesn't mean his department is relinquishing their responsibilities.
