Decision unfortunate says Robertshaw
East Douglas MHK Chris Robertshaw says it's "unfortunate" that the Legislative Council didn't move to discuss the recruitment process for a new full-time judge of appeal.
In Tynwald yesterday Mr Robertshaw's proposal was supported by the Keys, 13 votes to 11, but defeated by 5 votes to 2 in the Legislative Council, and therefore failed to carry.
He says there are clear seperation of powers between judiciary, Tynwald and the executive, and whilst the executive has tried to conflate the issue, he was pleased the House of Keys wasn't confused by it.
Mr Robertshaw is unhappy with aspects of the process, considering Tynwald is responsible for the judicial framework.
