Few support cutting recess
Members of Tynwald have rejected plans to have their summer break from parliament cut back.
Middle MHK Bill Shimmins made the suggestion after noting some constituents thought representatives were taking too long away from business during the court's July-October recess.
The court's monthly proceedings resumed yesterday (Tue) after 88 days without a sitting, and concluded before 10 o clock last night.
An hour long debate resulted in few supporting the recess being cut to just one month - with many arguing that regular duties do not stop while parliament is out.
The Chief Minister wryly suggest he would be allocating more work to those who considered the break a holiday.
