Tynwald asked to approve early expenditure

More than £6.8 million, to cover elements of capital schemes which have been completed ahead of schedule, will be sought by Treasury Minister Anne Craine in Tynwald later this month.

The most significant figures in the breakdown of 42 projects include almost £1.4 million for the new Bemahague Secondary School, over £1.2 million for the Battery Pier Firewater scheme, and over £1.1 million for the runway extension at Ronaldsway.

Mrs Craine has explained that the need for the extra money doesn't mean any of the projects have gone over budget.

In all 42 cases, work for which budgetry approval had been received during the 2011-2012 financial year was carried out in the year which ended at the start of April.
