Stu Peters to call for referendum
An MHK says the Manx public should have a direct say on the future of the government’s net zero policies.
At December’s Tynwald sitting, Stu Peters will table a motion calling for a referendum on the issue, to be held alongside the 2026 House of Keys General Election.
He says he was the only candidate in 2021 to campaign against spending public money on strategies which, he argues, carry little weight in proving their effectiveness.
Mr Peters adds that any member voting against his proposal would, in his view, be voting against the principle of democracy.
