Taser needed for unwilling suspects

The Isle of Man's Chief Officer for Firearms is reflecting on the first use of the taser by his force.

Deputy Chief Constable Gary Roberts says the incident early yesterday morning involved a man who was understood to be in possession of a knife.

After he resisted arrest, he was incapacitated with a taser and baton rounds, formerly known as rubber bullets.

The man, who has not been named was still in custody this afternoon.
