Steam Packet monitoring coronavirus situation

Other operators ban freight drivers and passengers

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is currently not planning to follow some other operators who have banned passengers and freight drivers from crossings.

Seatruck, which operates from Heysham, has taken such measures as has Condor Ferries in Jersey in order to protect freight supplies during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Commodore Clipper, which is similar ship to the Ben-my-Chree, is now taking freight only to and from Jersey, alongside the existing freight-only vessel Goodwill.

The Steam Packet says it may consider taking the same measures as Seatruck on the Arrow in order to protect lifeline services.

It has increased on board cleaning regimes on the Ben-my-Chree and placed sanitisers for passengers and crew.

The company says there are currently no plans to stop passengers and freight drivers on the Ben-my-Chree.

However, they say they are constantly monitoring the situation in a rapidly changing environment.
