Remand for Douglas man who attempted to bring cocaine to Island in fridge

40-year-old admits drug offences at Douglas Courthouse

A Douglas man who attempted to bring cocaine to the Island, concealed in a fridge, has been remanded at the Isle of Man Prison.

Peter Phillip Nulty, of Tynwald Street, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production of the Class A drug, between 25 September and 3 October, during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.

The court heard a package was shipped to the Island, via a courier firm, on 29 September but delivery of it was refused because it was suspicious.

When police seized it they found 994 grams of cocaine inside; the drugs had a street value of £99,000.

On 2 October officers arrested a woman who lived at the property where the parcel was due to be delivered; analysis of her phone data linked Nulty to it.

The 40-year-old also admitted possessing cocaine, on 18 December, and possession of £8,920 of criminal property; both were found during a search.

Nulty will be sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery; there was no application for bail and he’ll next appear before that court on 12 January.

Update: At Douglas Courthouse on 12 January Nulty was told he'll be sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on 23 February.
