Bernadette Williams 'lost for words' at receiving MBE
One of the Manx residents recognised in The Queen's New Years Honours has described receiving an MBE as 'overwhelming'.
Bernadette Williams received the accolade for services to the Isle of Man and the Royal British Legion.
She was a member of the Women's Section from 1983 to 1995 and has been a Standard Bearer for the Isle of Man County and North West Region.
After retiring from ceremonial duties she was appointed Sword Bearer for Tynwald - a duty she's carried out for 25 years:
The other Island recipients were Colin Leather, who's getting an MBE for services to Castletown, and Alex Townsend who received a British Empire Medal for services to Manx education.
