Railway usage on track

There was an increase in the number of people using the Isle of Man's vintage railways last year.

Almost 110,000 people travelled on the steam railway, the longest narrow gauge track in Britain, representing an increase of just over seven per cent on 2006.

Figures for the Manx Electric Railway were up almost ten per cent, and the Snaefell Mountain Railway carried over six per cent more people.

Extra services were run during the centenary TT fortnight when the Island welcomed 60,000 visitors.
