Tynwald has 'enough on its plate'

A bid to bridge the gap between the public and political committees was defeated in Tynwald last week (Thu).

Onchan member Peter Karran called on the Court to allow residents to raise concerns over finance, policy and members' conduct directly with parliamentary bodies.

His party leader Kate Beecroft argued that it would improve transparency and democracy.

But many disagreed - including East Douglas MHK Chris Robertshaw, who said Tynwald already had 'enough on its plate' with the ongoing Lisvane inquiry.

The proposal was eventually quashed by 26 votes against to 4 in favour.
