Professor was raised in the Island
A former Island resident died after falling up to 75 metres off a mountain in Snowdonia, an inquest has heard.
University professor David John Smith had been walking alone last November when he is thought to have slipped or tripped in bad weather.
An inquest heard the 63 year-old, who was brought up in the Island and worked at Bristol University, suffered major head and chest injuries in the fall.
It was also told the father of three was an experienced walker and was well-equipped for the conditions.
Coroner John Gittins recorded a conclusion of accidental death.
