
The Island's bishop has called on Christians and followers of other religions to pray for an end to barbabric violence in Iraq and Syria.
Bishop Robert Paterson made the call after the murder of a second American journalist by Islamic State terrorists - who are threatening to make a British hostage their next victim.
On Friday evening, Bishop Robert will host a vigil in Peel cathedral between 7 and 8pm, which is open to the whole community.
He says it's an opportunity for those of any faith or none at all, to take time out, be silent and in his words, bring to mind the present critical time:
