Post Office must 'innovate, not cut'

Union refuses to rule out industrial action

The Communication Workers' Union (CWU) has called on the Isle of Man Post Office to stop what it calls a 'managed decline' over the next five years.

It claims staff terms and conditions, pensions and certain customer services are under threat as part of a new savings strategy by the company.

There are concerns a fall in demand for traditional letter mail could lead to a cut in delivery days from six to five per week.

The union has refused to rule out industrial action if a solution cannot be found.

Deputy General Secretary Terry Pullinger has urged the Post Office's board to innovate instead of making cuts.
