Pollution on beach being assessed

Inspections are being carried out on Port Erin beach later, after it was closed for safety reasons.

The southern beach was polluted with a substance over the weekend.

Coastguard and government staff will assess the scene after high tide this morning, with an announcement about reopening due at 1.30pm.

In the meantime, members of the public are asked to observe all signs and not to venture onto the sand.
