Assaulted by 61-year-old woman who was found drunk outside home
A Douglas woman has been ordered to pay compensation to a police officer after kicking her in the abdomen whilst drunk.
Deborah Margaret Whitehead, of Lord Street, pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.
The 61-year-old also admitted being drunk in a public place; both offences took place on 8 February.
The court heard a concerned member of the public had called the police after finding Whitehead, and her dog, outside Hanover House at 8pm; she was unable to stand and didn’t have a key.
When officers arrived Whitehead became ‘verbally aggressive’ - and began shouting and swearing - before kicking the officer as she was being put in a police van.
Fining Whitehead £600, and ordering her to pay compensation of £200, Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood told her: “This was a completely unacceptable way to be behaving.
“Quite clearly you’ve got yourself into a considerable drunken state.”
Whitehead will also have to pay prosecution costs of £125.
