Pressure on custody facility
It was a busy party weekend across the Island, police say.
Between 8am on Friday and eight o’clock this morning (Monday), there were 177 calls to the emergency services joint control room.
Twenty-four arrests were made, 15 on Friday night alone, for a variety of alleged offences involving drink, drugs, driving whilst over the limit, assault and public order, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.
Chief Inspector Phil Shimmin said it was the first time the extra capacity in the Island’s new custody facility was really tested.
He’s thanked officers for their work and says the force will remain vigilant and focus on keeping people safe over the holidays.
