Police are looking for witnesses to an incident on Douglas promenade last night (Tuesday).
It happened around 10.15pm and involved a man and a woman who became involved in an argument while walking on the seaward side, opposite the Empress Hotel.
A man was arrested by two officers in plain clothes and a 23-year-old local man was held overnight for questioning at Police Headquarters.
Officers say a group of people saw the scuffle between the police officers and the man who was arrested.
They would like to speak to anyone who saw the couple arguing immediately before the incident and are specifically appealing to anyone who has photographs or video footage of the arrest to come forward.
If you can help you are asked to ring police on 631212.
