The Department of Homes Affairs has unveiled plans to create a new fire training facility near the Island’s incinerator.
In a planning application, the department says it wants to create the new breathing apparatus and fire training centre on empty land behind the waste for energy plant on Richmond Hill.
Similar plans have already won approval for a site at Woodside in East Baldwin but the Fire Service says it prefers this location closer to Douglas.
The scheme also includes building a small rest room on the land, which is owned by the Department of Infrastructure.
The Council of Ministers will decide the planning application.
