Plan to involve DHSC in work assessments

Minister wants to build on PCA recommendations

A report into ill-fated work capability assessments can provide lessons moving forward.

That's the belief of Treasury Minister Alf Cannan, who's declared an intention to carry on the tests in future - but with stricter quality controls.

His predecessor Eddie Teare introduced the fit-for-work benefits tests, which were suspended last year.

Dependability Ltd, who carried out the tests as Treasury subcontractors, were found to be employing underqualified staff.

Mr Cannan says, in future, central agencies will play a bigger role.
