Isle of Man Bank withdraws mobile branch service after a decade on Manx roads
Isle of Man Bank has confirmed its mobile branch, Penny, is being taken off the road.
The van service was introduced in 2015 following the closure of three of the Island's physical branches.
In a statement to Manx Radio, Isle of Man Bank says the move is in response to the increasing use of digital banking and aligns with efforts to meet the evolving needs of its customers and 'industry-wide shifts'.
It adds: “The mobile branch, Penny, has served our community well over the last 10 years and our commitment to serving customers across the island remains unchanged.
"Our digital, telephony and branch services are available to support all banking needs.”
With footfall falling by over 70 percent, the bank says it believes Penny has 'fulfilled its role' and mobile branch banking is no longer a required service.
The service will officially be withdrawn on Monday, 17 November.
On the Island, there are now four physical Isle of Man Bank branches remaining; Athol Street and Regent Street in Douglas, Parliament Street in Ramsey, and Station Road, Port Erin.
