Fire festival using biofuel and offsetting carbon footprint
A Manx festival that celebrates the end of winter is focussing on offsetting its carbon footprint this year.
Oie Voaldyn, or May Day Eve, takes place in Peel on Sunday, and includes a fiery battle between winter and summer, which sees summer triumph to bring warmer weather.
This year the event will be using a biofuel for its fire activities, which includes bonfires, a torchlit procession and fire performers.
Festival organiser John Shakespeare says it's part of an effort to be more environmentally friendly.
