The Department of Health says it doesn’t know how many HIV cases there are on the Isle of Man.
In an answer to a question for written answer from South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft, Health Minister David Anderson says not all cases are diagnosed – and some people are tested off-Island.
He says that means the department doesn’t have accurate statistics.
In his response, he also says making any data about the small number of cases on the Isle of Man public could lead to patients being identified.
And he says in order to protect patient confidentiality, his department has no plans to publish HIV statistics.
