That's the stark reality facing the vunerable after the issue was raised in the House of Keys yesterday.
South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft asked Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw why the subject had not been addressed.
Mr Robertshaw stated it was being looked at but as part of a complex and comprehensive review of all benefits which will be debated by Tynwald next year.
