Chief Minister Tony Brown says his leisure minister did the right thing in giving a developer a final chance to put forward plans for a leisure complex on the Summerland site.
At the end of last month, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure David Cretney announced the site would be sold, as no suitable leisure project had been found.
But days later, after an outcry the site would be used for apartments only, Mr Cretney gave developer GB Building Solutions more time to come back with revised proposals.
That led to accusations the government was 'flip-flopping' over what to do, but Mr Brown says that's not the case:
Person suffers 'significant injuries' in 'serious assault' near Peel
Business case for horse trams to be put before Tynwald in July
Plans to turn 'underused space' in central Douglas into wellness retreat
Employment grievance 'upheld' against board of Peel Commissioners
