DHSC outlines commitment in 2025/26 plan
No changes will be made to existing arrangements and charges for NHS prescription charges, dental services or eye tests during the remainder of the current administration.
That's a commitments in the latest Department of Health and Social Care plan for 2025/26.
However, the report says that subject to Tynwald approval the intention is to introduce what's called an equitable and sustainable set of eligibility criteria for prescriptions, eyesight tests and dental services.
The 40 page report provides a comprehensive run-down of aspirations and targets and earnest commitments to putting patient safety and care quality first; bringing care closer to home and local communities, and improving service accessibility.
There's also a run-down of key achievements since the 2023/24 plan.
These include reduced waiting lists for ophthalmology, orthopaedics and general surgery; increasing awareness and acceptance of the Autism spectrum, and improving access to GP services through digital solutions such as electronic prescribing and online GP services - which will be operational this year.
