New faces in the Tynwald Chamber!

The Manx government's stance on legalising cannabis and the value of the TT to the Isle of Man are two of the topics on the agenda at the annual Junior Tynwald today (Monday).

Teams of year twelve students from all five of the Island's secondary schools take on the mantle of the politicians in the Tynwald Chamber this morning.

The sitting, organised by the Isle of Man branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and the Department of Education and Children, aims to provide students with firsthand experience of the Manx parliamentary system, and give Tynwald members a closer insight into what concerns the Island's young people.

Students will receive a tour of the legislative buildings followed by a pre-briefing session, before formal business begins.

As well as becoming MHKs and MLCs for the day, a number of them will be reporting on proceedings, under the watchful eye of Manx Radio and Isle of Man Newspapers.
