MHK queries figures and cost associated with positions
Data revealed by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture shows there are 83 vacancies across the department, with more than 50-percent of that figure accounting for teachers, lecturers and support staff.
Caretakers, kitchen staff, administrators and culture and sport workers make up the remaining 41 positions.
It's estimated that if all positions were filled, the department would be spending an additional £2.35 million per year.
Teachers and lecturers would require the most funding. Based on average pay scales, a total of £856,700 would be required to fund the 15 positions.
Administrative staff has two positions open and would see the government pay out £64,700 extra once filled.
Of the available roles, 50 are full-time.
