Proposed land deal with Peel Group
The infrastructure minister says the Manx government will negotiate hard for the best deal - if proposals to buy a site for a new ferry terminal in Liverpool get the green light.
A budget of £3.5 million has been drawn-up to purchase land at Princes Half Tide Dock on the Mersey, close to the Steam Packet's current landing stage at the Pier Head.
Phil Gawne will seek Tynwald approval for that sum as a maximum, to buy the land from developers Peel Group. Tenders for design and build of a new terminal would then be invited.
However, before any deals are struck parliament must approve a long-term strategy for future sea services, covering requirements for vessels, capacity, reliability and service levels.
