Investigation into cause of fire underway
A man needed oxygen therapy following a house fire in Onchan.
Fire crews were called out just after 5pm on Christmas Eve to tackle a house fire on Main Road in the village.
The owner of the property raised the alarm before returning to the property to lead his pet dogs to safety.
The fire was confined to the first floor of the house, but there was extensive smoke damage throughout the building.
Firefighters administered oxygen therapy to the male for the effects of smoke inhalation before he was transferred to an ambulance.
Officers remained at the scene for 90 minutes ensuring the fire was extinguished and the home ventilated, while an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
