
The leader of Douglas Council is urging government to leave public sector housing in the hands of local authorities.
David Christian has rejected suggestions by Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw that a single, central agency should oversee public housing, Island-wide.
Mr Robertshaw said last week there's not enough flexibility in the system, with 17 different authorities currently looking after housing needs in their areas.
Councillor Christian has called for larger housing authorities to be created as part of a wider reform of local government.
