Landlords invited to find out about registration bill

Draft legislation to include minimum standards and mandatory register

Government has invited private landlords to find out more about a bill which, if approved, would force them to sign up to a register.

Drop-in sessions have been arranged later this month for those with property in the private rental market to discuss the proposed changes.

A record of landlords and the introduction of minimum property standards are both included in the Landlord Registration Bill.

A public consultation on the draft legislation closed in July, but the Manx Landlords Association complained government hadn't engaged with it about the proposals.

The first session takes place between 4pm and 7.30pm at Braddan Church Hall next Tuesday (22 Sep). 

Political members and offices will be there to discuss what the bill means for landlords, and how it will be introduced.

The next will be at St Paul's Church Hall in Ramsey next Thursday (24 Sep), with the final one held in Port St Mary Town Hall on 1 October.
