Court told of officer's 'dynamic arrest'

A police officer who arrested the man suspected of murdering MP Jo Cox hails from the Island, it's emerged.

PC Craig Nicholls, who's 39, has been giving evidence in the trial of Thomas Mair, after the killing in West Yorkshire earlier this year.

Craig was born and raised in Douglas before moving to the UK and joining the force in his twenties.

The Old Bailey heard how he and a colleague 'rugby tackled' Mr Mair to the ground after the MP was shot and stabbed outside a constituency surgery in June.

They later discovered he was carrying a 'bag of bullets'.

Prosecuting, Richard Whittam QC described it as a 'dynamic arrest'.

Mr Mair denies murder and possessing an offensive weapon - the trial continues.
