Isle of Man Ferry Terminal in Liverpool upgrade delayed again

Contractors have been unable to source an alternative barge

There are further delays ahead for ferry passengers as the schedule for works at the Isle of Man Ferry Terminal in Liverpool has had to be changed again.

It's after it was discovered that, at lower tides, mooring lines clashed with a dolphin fender in berthing trials last year.

The Department of Infrastructure (DoI) has today (19 November) confirmed 'recent adverse weather on a preceding job in Wales' is continuing to affect the availability of barge LARA 1, a heavy lifting crane, meaning that the work has been 'unavoidably delayed again'.

The contractors have been unable to source an alternative barge.

As a result, the DoI has requested the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company to reschedule the November 22 and 23 sailings to operate to and from Heysham.

The department has apologised to travellers for any inconvenience caused.
