40-year-old pleads not guilty to assault
An inmate at the prison's alleged to have thrown a hot drink over a fellow prisoner before attacking him.
Forty-year-old Stefan Antonio Proverbs appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse via a live video link.
Mr Proverbs, who is representing himself, pleaded not guilty to one count of assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent;
Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon told the court Mr Proverbs went to his alleged victim's cell at around 4.15pm on 19 October last year.
Mr Proverb's alleged to have told the man “You are getting it now” before throwing the drink over him, inflicting second-degree burns.
He's then said to have launched a flurry of punches, kneeing the man in the face and leaving him with a fractured eye socket.
The court heard prison staff had noticed the two argued frequently and didn't like each other.
Mrs Hughes remanded Mr Proverbs in custody to appear again on 31 March.
