Aims to strengthen Polish-Manx cultural and economic cooperation
Polish citizens living on the Isle of Man look set to benefit from more support following the opening of the Consulate of the Republic of Poland.
It’s said to mark an ‘important milestone’ for the community and is seen as ‘another step’ in strengthening the country’s presence on the Isle of Man.
Ambassador Rafał Wiśniewski - the chargé d’Affaires a.i of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London - visited the Island this week.
He was joined by colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and the Polish Diaspora and Public Diplomacy Unit.
The ambassador inaugurated the consulate in Douglas and made Ranita Szymańska the new honorary consul.
This was done in the presence of the Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer and Chief Minister Alfred Cannan.
The ambassador also met with the Treasury Minister Chris Thomas.
The new consular post will support citizens living on the Island and strengthen Polish-Manx cultural and economic cooperation.
The polish delegation also visited sites commemorating the contribution and sacrifice of Polish servicemen during the Second World War.
