Gov't uphold refusal of permission to build Auldyn development

Appeal of development applied for in 2020 is denied

Proposals for a 138-property housing development in the north of the Island have been refused planning permission.

Danara originally put the proposals forward in September 2020 which would've seen 166-properties built.

Since then, there have been modifications to the plans following concerns over flooding and drainage which saw cuts to the number of homes.

The application was initially refused in May 2022 which saw the organisation lodge an appeal which has subsequently been denied.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has put the decision down to material harm and damage to the biodiversity and ecology interests which are not outweighed by the benefits to the development.
