Douglas council tenants using oil may be forced to swap to gas if a proposal is approved today (Weds 11).
The House and Property Committee claims the monthly payments will be easier for tenants, and fluctuating oil and gas prices mean there isn't much difference in price.
It also says gas is cheaper to install and maintain, saving the Council money as well.
The switch wouldn't happen immediately, but any boiler more than a decade old would be replaced with a gas one.
