DoI submitted proposals for more signs, lining and road changes
Funding for plans to increase the number of 20mph zones in residential areas, including around schools, was rejected by the Treasury.
It's been revealed the Department of Infrastructure asked for almost £2.9m to be included in this year's budget for the project.
The proposals included funding for signage, lining and physical changes to roads in residential areas, some of which are around the Island's schools.
However, Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson said in response to a Tynwald question that it was not possible to accommodate the amount for this financial year.
