Free Shingles jabs for over 65s still 'under review'

A decision on whether the Isle of Man will follow the UK and offer free Shingles jabs to all from the age of 65 is still under review.

The UK introduced the change nine months ago, but there's still no word on whether the Island will follow suit.

About 1 in 5 people who have had chickenpox will develop shingles. It can occur at any time, though the risk, severity and potential complications from the condition all increase with age.

The shingles vaccine, which costs the NHS around £170, reduces the risk of getting the condition or the risk of going on to develop post-herpetic neuralgia (or PHN) - a condition with severe burning, throbbing or stabbing nerve pain.
