35-year-old was reported to police by a member of the public
A Peel man who drove whilst two times the legal limit has been fined £1,350.
Raymond Tarisai Musengeyi, of McLeods Field, was travelling along Peel Road towards Douglas when he was stopped by police on 30 May.
The 35-year-old was reported by a member of the public who say his black BMW 'driving erratically' through Crosby, clipping kerbs and overtaking other vehicles.
When officers first spoke to him, they noticed a 'strong smell of intoxicants' coming from the car.
The court heard Musengeyi had consumed whiskey in the two hours before driving.
His advocate said his child had chicken pox, and he made the decision to go out and get medicine in the 'innocent belief' he was fit to drive.
Fining Musengeyi, and banning him from the road for two years, Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood told him: "It should have been apparent to you that you were not fit to drive."
He'll also have to take, and pass, an extended driving test.
