Jump in routine and urgent maintenance costs
New figures show how much recent works on Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital have cost the Department of Infrastructure.
Several services have been relocated from the site since last year after 'significant issues' with the building were discovered whilst tackling a pest infestation on Martin Ward.
The Minor Injuries Unit is due to reopen on Monday (18 May), having been closed since December.
A breakdown of costs for routine and urgent maintenance over the past five years has been published by the DOI, showing totals jump from tens of thousands in 2024/25 to £620,000 in 2025/26.

DOI Minister Tim Crookall says that total doesn't include some elements of the work which can be recharged back to Manx Care.
In response to Ramsey MHK Alex Allinson's Tynwald Question for Written Answer, Minister Crookall says: "It should be noted that there has been an increase in the volume of PPM works, particularly within Martin Ward, during the 25/26 financial year, which have been completed whilst these areas have been closed and would not normally be accessible.
"The Department also recharges some elements of rechargeable work back to Manx Care.
"Whilst the initial incurred costs in respect of these re-charges are embedded within the contained costs below, the reimbursement figures from Manx Care are not included. In the table below, routine maintenance expenditure is reflected within the categories of Pre Planned Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance and Minor Revenue Funded Projects, whereas urgent maintenance expenditure is recorded under Reactive (Urgent Works). The table [above] also shows works that have solely been funded by the Department, in each year since 2021.
"This does not include any spend incurred directly by Manx Care as this information is not available to the Department."
