An online report claims the firm is in advanced negotiations to withdraw entirely from the Isle of Man
Evri is staying tight-lipped over reports that the courier company could be about to leave the Isle of Man.
An online report from watchdog Courier Checker claims the firm is in "advanced negotiations to withdraw entirely from the Isle of Man and hand over all parcel delivery operations to the Isle of Man Post Office".
When approached for comment, an Evri spokesperson told Manx Radio: “There is no change to the way we service our customers on the Isle of Man.”
In response to a follow-up request, asking whether that position was likely to change as per the online reports, the company issued the same statement:
“There is no change to the way we service our customers on the Isle of Man.”
Courier Checker also claims the deal is '95 percent finalised' and would see Evri exit the Island by this September and 'transfer last-mile delivery responsibility to IOMPO, effectively ending the courier’s direct presence on the Island altogether'.
It claims, if the agreement goes through, it will leave around 40 self-employed Evri couriers on the Island out of work and just six new jobs created at the Isle of Man Post Office.
Manx Radio has approached the Isle of Man Post Office for comment.
