Douglas Tesco store evacuated due to 'maintenance issue'

Emergency services confirm they are not responding to an incident

Update: A Tesco spokesperson said: “Our Little Switzerland store has fully reopened following a maintenance issue. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.”

The Tesco store on Victoria Road has been closed to customers this afternoon (8 August).

Manx Radio received reports from listeners that the shop was 'abruptly evacuated' with customers 'told to head straight to the checkouts' and 'asked to leave'.

A Tesco spokesperson told Manx Radio: "Our Little Switzerland store is temporarily closed due to a maintenance issue. 

"We are sorry for the inconvenience, and we are working to reopen the store as soon as possible."

Emergency services have confirmed to Manx Radio they are not currently responding to an incident there.
