CQC investigations find dental and adult social care services to be 'caring' services

Inspections held in the summer

More reports by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have been published by the Department of Health and Social Care. 

It's after the CQC held inspections over the summer at dental services and adult social care services on the Island.

According to the feedback the department received, 12 of the dental services and 43 Adult Social Care services were found to be ‘caring’.

The feedback from dental practices indicated that staff treated patients with dignity and respect and the service had effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. 

In terms of administration the CQC found complaints were dealt with positively and appointment systems took account of patients’ needs.

Feedback for Adult Social Care services showed that relatives generally spoke positively about staff teams, saying they were 'kind and caring'.

Manx Care says areas of improvement highlighted in the reports show any risk to patients is minor, adding some changes have already made in line with CQC recommendations.

The inspections took place over the summer and the department says while some recommendations have been implemented, others will take time to deliver. 

Further CQC reports will be published in the coming months, covering a range of services across Manx Care.
